Click-Through Rate (CTR)

What Is Click-Through Rate?
Click-Through Rate, or CTR, measures the percentage of people who click a specific link after being shown it, whether that’s a search result, an email subject line, or a paid ad. It’s calculated by dividing total clicks by total impressions. CTR measures the strength of the first impression: the headline, the meta description, the subject line, whatever earns the click before the content itself gets a chance to perform.
Why Is Click-Through Rate Important?
CTR is often the first real signal a piece of content gets. A low CTR on a search result usually means the meta title and description aren’t compelling enough to earn the click, regardless of how good the page behind them is. In email, CTR is one of the clearest indicators of whether a subject line actually resonated with the audience it was sent to. It’s an early warning system, not a vanity metric.
Can You Use Click-Through Rate In A Sentence, Please?
“We rewrote the meta title, and the click-through rate nearly doubled without touching a single word on the actual page.”
