Owned Media

What Is Owned Media?
Owned Media refers to any channel a brand fully controls, including its website, blog, email list, and any content it publishes directly. Unlike paid or earned media, owned media isn’t rented or borrowed; a brand decides what goes on it, when, and how long it stays there.
Why Is Owned Media Important?
Owned media is the only category in the PESO Model a brand doesn’t have to negotiate for. It’s not subject to a platform’s algorithm, a publication’s editorial calendar, or an ad budget running out. That makes it the most durable long-term asset in a content strategy, and usually the foundation the other three categories build on: a strong owned asset is what gets shared, what earns coverage, and what paid media ultimately points back to.
Can You Use Owned Media In A Sentence, Please?
“Every campaign we ran eventually pointed back to owned media, because that’s the one channel that was still standing after the budget and the news cycle moved on.”
